frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about Beljay Labs and carbon footprint reporting for your business.
What is Beljay and how does it work?+
Beljay is a carbon footprint reporting platform designed for small and medium businesses. It connects to your purchase and sales invoices — through Xero or uploaded files — and automatically calculates your carbon emissions across Scope 1, 2, and 3. You receive detailed, audit-ready reports without any manual data entry.
How is Beljay different from other carbon reporting tools?+
Most tools rely on spend-based estimates — they divide your total spending by industry averages. Beljay uses activity-based emission factors grounded in the actual quantities on your invoices. This means significantly higher accuracy, which is what large corporate clients and auditors specifically require.
What data do I need to get started?+
You need your purchase and sales invoices. The simplest path is connecting your Xero account — Beljay reads your invoice data through a secure, read-only connection. If you don't use Xero, you can upload invoice data in common file formats.
How long does it take to set up?+
Set up in days, not months. Once your data is connected, Beljay analyses it automatically and delivers your first carbon report. There is no lengthy onboarding or complex configuration needed.
Is my financial data safe?+
Your data is protected with AES-256 encryption, strict access controls, and read-only data connections. We never modify your financial systems. Your invoice data is processed securely and is only accessible to authorised users on your account.
What is the difference between Carbon Snapshot and Carbon Hub?+
Carbon Snapshot is a free tool that gives you an instant carbon footprint estimate using spend-based factors and a shareable PDF report. Carbon Hub is our full platform: it uses precision activity-based factors, provides ongoing tracking that learns from corrections, configurable dashboards, and audit-ready reports. Carbon Hub is designed for businesses that need accurate, repeatable carbon reporting.
What are Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions?+
Scope 1 covers direct emissions from sources you own or control (e.g., gas combustion). Scope 2 covers indirect emissions from purchased electricity. Scope 3 covers all other indirect emissions in your supply chain — purchased goods, transportation, waste. Beljay reports across all three scopes.
Can I use Beljay to report to my corporate clients?+
Yes. Beljay generates preferred supplier reports specifically designed for sharing with distributors and retailers. These reports present your carbon data in the format large corporations expect, positioning your business as a sustainability-ready partner.
How many users can access Carbon Hub?+
Carbon Hub includes up to 5 users per account. If you need additional users, contact us to discuss your requirements.
Do you offer a free trial of Carbon Hub?+
We don't have a self-service trial for Carbon Hub, but we do offer personalised demos where we walk you through the platform using your own data. This gives you a much better sense of the value than a generic trial. Request a demo through our contact page.
What accounting systems does Beljay integrate with?+
Beljay currently integrates with Xero. If you use a different accounting system, you can upload your invoice data directly. We are continuously working on expanding our integrations.
Where is Beljay based?+
Beljay Labs is based in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. We serve businesses across Australia and globally.
